Designed for the Food Safety Division, the 3M Petrifilm™ Plate Reader helps laboratories and food manufacturers improve productivity by automatically counting, recording and reporting results while maintaining accuracy. Looking at the full microbiology testing environment, allowed us to identify unique opportunities while exceeding the needs of our customers to provide a thoughtful, and desirable end to end experience.

This program was a tremendous success, both in product development and in launch. It really shows the importance and impact global design research can have, with a design thinking mindset. We were able to quickly align on shared goals and approach, develop workshops with the Business, Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, that helped feed the research synthesis to create new product solutions that incorporated an ecosystem level thinking for a transformative end-to-end experience.
